ABDA launches website and opens registrations for HaBaWaBa Brazil U13

Association prepares to host the first edition of the festival in Latin America

Last year, the Associação Bauruense de Desportes Aquáticos (ABDA) signed a contract with Water Polo Development (WPD) to host the HaBaWaBa Brazil Festival, in the U13 mixed-gender category, from 2020. Trusting in a positive scenario for the end of the year, despite the current uncertainties in the face of the pandemic of the new coronavirus, ABDA continues with the preparations for the festival between December 9 and 13.

At the site www.habawababrasil.com.br, recently launched with the endorsement of WPD, the teams can get more information about the event and make their registrations which grants them a welcome kit, accommodation, food, day-use pass in the Aquatic Park Novo Thermas De Piratininga and Arena-hotel transfers, during the game days. The goal is to receive up to 20 teams from Brazil, South America and even from other continents.

Important tournament

since 2011, a year after the creation of Projeto Futuro (Future Project), ABDA sends its little athletes to all editions of the HaBaWaBa International Festival in Italy. The tournament is the most important water polo event for children, for base categories all over the world, even having the support from the United Nations International Children's Fund (UNICEF).

Taking part in the festival can be an incentive for children to keep at the sport, training and obtaining numerous achievements. Many of the ABDA athletes who had the opportunity to take part in the festival in Italy were called by the Brazilian national team and have collected many victories.

Fair Play

HaBaWaBa Brasil follows the philosophy of other brand festivals around the world: teaching children the true ethical values of sport through a water polo tournament. At the festival, socialization and respect for opponents are paramount and friendly competition serves as an encounter between different cultures. At the same time, the game teaches life values and promotes body and mind harmonic growth.

The rules of water polo are adapted, meeting the demands of the festival. It is important that referees are tuned to these rules and keep in mind the premises of fair play. ”The festival even offers the Fair Play trophy to the team who stands out in this aspect", says the coach Janaina Parra Grossi, who is part of the organizing committee of the event.

Voluntary arbitration

Athletes over 16 years, referees, table officers, coaches and club teachers can be volunteers in the arbitration of HaBaWaBa Brazil, being that the latter two may not be responsible for any team taking part in the festival. "Taking part in an international event with the grandeur of HaBaWaBa, recognized around the world, is a great opportunity for the volunteers professional growth," says Janaina.

Those interested in volunteering in the arbitration team of the HaBaWaBA Brazil 2020 festival should send an email to janainawp@hotmail.com containing full name, date of birth, sports entity to which they are affiliated, contact number and inform if they wish to participate as a referee or join the arbitration table. It is also necessary to confirm attendance and take part in the Basic Arbitration Course that will be taught by the organization in the days before the festival, at the ABDA Arena.
