Registrations open for HaBaWaBa Brasil 2022 in two categories

Third edition of the event will be for under-10 and under-13 athletes and expects to receive 50 teams

HaBaWaBa Brasil arrives packed with new features in its third edition in 2022. The event organized by the Associação Bauruense de Desportes Aquáticos (ABDA) is the Latin American version of the world's largest festival of children's water polo, created in Italy by Waterpolo Development (WPD). Registration opened today (6/1) and can be done until October 14th through the website

The festival will be held at Arena ABDA, one of the best sports complexes in Latin America, located in the city of Bauru, in the countryside of São Paulo state, between the 7th and 11th of December. The big news of this year is that HaBaWaBa Brasil will include two categories, U-10 and U-13, with mixed teams, formed by athletes (boys and girls) with a maximum age of 10 years (U-10) and 13 years (U-13).

In 2020, in the first year of the event, even with the challenge of the pandemic, 14 teams took part in the festival. In 2021, there were 25 teams from 11 clubs from various states of Brazil. For the third edition of HaBaWaBa Brasil, the Organizing Committee expects to receive about 50 teams, adding the two categories together. Clubs from all over Brazil and also from abroad can take part in the festival.

Awards - Each category will have awards with trophies and medals of excellent quality, made of metal, for the three top positions, and the Under-13 will have two divisions awarded, the already traditional Titan and Tsu. This format aims to give even more opportunity and encouragement to children in water polo. In the U-10 category, there will only be Titan awards. All athletes from the other teams will receive participation medals.

In addition to the team award, HaBaWaBa Brasil also awards the Fair Play trophy to the team that stands out for fair play, ethics, respect and social integration during matches. These principles are extremely valued at the festival. The trophy is a way to praise and encourage good behavior. The winner of the Fair Play Trophy will be defined by the arbitration table.

Athlete Kit – As in previous years, registration grants athletes the HaBaWaba Brasil welcome kit, which includes a bag, a T-shirt, a cap, a towel, the official brochure for the event, personalized credentials, temporary tattoos and the Champion's Passport. All items are already in the process of creation and will be made with all care, with good quality materials. "These are memories that the little athletes will have of the event, in addition to the participation medal that everyone will receive and trophies and medals for the champions,” said Janaina Parra Grossi, one of the organizers.

Extra activities - As in previous years, HaBaWaBa Brasil will offer, in addition to water polo games, clinics with extra activities for athletes and workshops for coaches. The teams will also be able to enjoy the day-use pass at the Novo Thermas De Piratininga, during the free time from the games, by previous appointment. All activities are being planned and will soon be disclosed in more detail.

Arbitration - The arbitration of the festival, following the philosophy of the HaBaWaBa around the world, will be carried out entirely by volunteers. Athletes, coaches, teachers and interested professionals should send an e-mail to the organizer Janaina Parra Grossi (, containing full name, date of birth, sports entity to which they are linked and telephone for contact. In addition, in the e-mail, you must also inform if you wish to take part as an arbitrator or join the arbitration board and confirm the possibility of enrolling in the basic arbitration course that will be taught by the organization in the days leading up to the festival, at the Arena ABDA.
